Mystic Festival 2023: It’s a Killer Festival, So Don’t Forget to Write Your Testament!

Testament, Watain, Primitive Man, and Lord Of The Lost confirmed to play at Gdańsk Shipyard in 2023.

Another titans of American thrash metal are added to Mystic Festival 2023? We cannot get enough of them. Even more so, as Testament has been growing in strength for four decades, and while the genesis of their might is their landmark debut “The Legacy,” you can hear the same power on “Titans of Creation,” their thirteenth album, released just at the onset of the pandemic. And when it comes to live acts, as you know, Testament has no equals.

Fire, blood, and blasphemy – Watain knows the recipe for a successful black metal ritual. This Swedish band knows how to attain a perfect balance between destructive aggression with melodies that infect your mind and your heart (if you have one). The title of their latest record, “The Agony & Ecstasy of Watain” is a perfect reflection of their sound.

Primitive Man explores the dark, dense and desperate spaces between doom, black, and sludge metal. “Total aural destruction,” “Journey to the deepest and pitch black depths of the abyss,” “You can’t escape this horror, you have been trapped in some ungodly realm to spend the rest of eternity in aguish” – that’s how the reviewers of their “Immersion” (2020) describe their latest release. And they are not mistaken.

Lord of the Lost play novel gothic metal with a wide kick – from dark, but daring synthesizer sound, taking us back to the best Depeche Mode sounds, through raw industrial rock, all the way to heaviness of Rammstein. Their latest record is entitled “Judas” – and we can betray that that his material, when heard out live, is outstanding.
